Easter in Greek! Πάσχα!

Midnight Mass: crowds of people gather in the street by the church (this one's in Rafina, a village/suburb of Athens) and the holy flame is passed through the crowds.

Best church ever! Fireworks!

Then, Greeks bring the flame home, and have traditional lamb soup and a feast!

Uncle Dylan (the Commodore) protecting the holy flame from devilish winds...

Celyn scores more flame from a stranger on the street.

The first 1am feast! Soup, tortiere, octopus, tzatziki, cucumber, feta, olives, savoury and sweet bread,  and Fix beer. Madelyn and Joan spent the day dying the hard boiled eggs. We went around the table trying to smash each other's eggs.

Commodore Harding and his sailors roasting the lamb.

We wanted to know who his dentist was.

Nick turning the giant kebab!

Whooooaaah!

Ex-vegetarian committing Vegetarian sins.

Men at work.

Gypsy Madelyn taking her pick of meat.

We've had five birthdays in the past few days... so an ample amount of cake should do!

Then, to the beach!

A crab!

Nap time...

Madelyn, the Bin Girl!

  1. Oooohhh! Wish Alex and I were there to dance wildly on the beach, feast with you, and enjoy the Easter celebrations. The pictures are terrific!
